Summer Camps For Government Teachers During Vacation
PMIU-PESRP/School Education Department Punjab has issued a notification in connection with ” Nomination Of Teachers For Learning Camps On FLN During Summer Vacation 2023” and directed to all the Cheif Executive Officers (CEOs) of Bahawalpur, D.G Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffarnagar and Mianwali to set up leaning campus during the upcoming summer vacation( June-August 2023) to address the grave issues of the poor learning outcome of the poor students.
These summer camps will only be set up in 1954 shortlisted schools in FIVE chosen districts i.e Bahawalpur, D.G Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffarnagar and Mianwali where the dropout is extremely high and enrollment rates are very poor. After the final recommendation, these summer camps will be held from 7.00 am to 9.30 am for five days (Monday to Friday) a week with the nominated teachers for each of the 1954 shortlisted schools. The selected teachers will be paid monthly remuneration for the duration of these learning camps. Enrolment Criteria
- The minimum expected enrolment target per summer camp is 30 students. All Chief Executive Officers, Assistant Education Officers and Headteachers will ensure the achievement of Target.
- The proportion of enrolling OOSC shall be at least 20% of the total enrolment of the camp (i.e., at least 12 OOSC or more per camp)
Remuneration Criteria
- All the designated teachers for the summer camp will get a remuneration of Rs18,000/month
- Retention premium (PKR 1000/OOSC up to maximum PKR 10,000) for ensuring mainstreaming/enrolment of OOSC from learning camps in regular classes.
Guidelines for Summer Camps For Government Teachers
Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) shall finalize the nomination of teachers for Learning Camps with the following considerations:
- At least 2 teachers are to be appointed(1 nominee teacher and 1 on standby).
- When deciding someone to nominate, consideration should be given to the teachers’ performance, track record, and attendance.
- The teacher should be willing to teach in a learning camp during summer vacation which involves working in a non-traditional classroom setting.
- The teacher should be willing to reach out to parents and community members to promote the camp and encourage enrollment.
- The teacher should have a good reputation in the local community and be aware of the local community dynamics. This will help build community trust and create a positive learning environment.
- The teacher should be flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the learning camp environment. This may include adjusting teaching methods to suit the needs of the students.
