Teaching Of Holy Quran As A Separate Compulsory Subject In All Schools

Government Of The Punjab School Education Department Punjab(Monitoring Wing) has issued a notification on 13th December 2021 in connection with ” Teaching Of Holy Quran/Naazrah As A Separate Compulsory Subject In All Schools Of Punjab” and issued the following directions to all Chief Executive Officers(DEAs) In Punjab. 

The Punjab Compulsory Teaching of Holy Quran Act, 2018 amended in 2021 entails the teaching of the Holy Quran as a separate compulsory subject for Muslim students in all educational institutions. Accordingly, all public and private schools, are under legal obligation to ensure the teaching of the Holy Quran as a separate compulsory subject in schools through dedicated qualified staff. For this purpose, the arrangement of dedicated/qualified staff by the private sector schools is imperative.

You are, therefore, directed to obtain certificate from the Head/management of each Private school under your jurisdiction to the effect that Holy Quran as a separate subject through qualified staff is being taught. The certificate should contain the information about the teacher(s) provided, arranged or employed for this purpose.

This certificate may be procured and submitted to this office within 60 days after the issuance of this letter. Thereafter, the schools failing to provide required qualified teaching staff may be proceeded against under the relevant provisions of law.
