Summer Vacation 2026 has officially been announced by the Government of Punjab School Education Department for all public and private schools across the province. According to the latest notification issued on 11 May 2026, summer holidays will begin from 22 May 2026 and continue until 23 August 2026. All schools across Punjab will reopen on 24 August 2026 (Monday).
Earlier, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat shared a statement on his official Facebook page regarding the upcoming holidays, which quickly gained attention across social media platforms. Following the announcement, many social media users and members of the teaching community expressed concerns and criticism over the government’s decision.
According to teachers, students are already receiving three holidays each week, which they believe is negatively affecting academic continuity and causing significant learning loss. They further stated that the current weather conditions remain relatively pleasant, with occasional rainfall once or twice a week contributing to moderate temperatures.
Several educators also voiced concerns that such decisions could eventually pave the way for the outsourcing of public schools. The matter continues to spark debate among teachers, parents, and the wider public on social media.
After the Minister of Education post, the School Education Department issued this notification after approval from the competent authority. The department has also directed all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Education Authorities to ensure strict compliance with the announced schedule.
