In a significant development, the Government of Punjab’s School Education Department has officially announced the schedule of reopening of schools in Punjab for educational institutions across the province. According to the notification (No. SO (A-1)1-31/2022) issued on August 13, 2025, all public and private educational institutions catering to classes 9 through 12 will reopen on August 18, 2025.
This decision comes after the consultation of all stakholders with the education minister Rana Sikandar Hayat. The minister shared this news on his facebook account. The key highlisths of the notification is given below.
Key Highlights of the Notification

Reopening Date for Classes 9 to 12:
All educational institutions (public and private) in Punjab are allowed to reopen from August 18, 2025, for students of 9th to 12th standard. -
Reopening Date for Remaining Classes:
Students below 9th standard (i.e., from nursery to class 8) will return to school from September 1, 2025. -
School Timings Till August 31, 2025:
During the interim period from August 18 to August 31, all schools will operate between 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. strictly. -
SOP Compliance:
All institutions must ensure strict compliance with the COVID-19 or other government-issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the health and safety of students and staff.
